Society Matriarch, Dada Marquis Remarries at 70!

Some weeks ago, February 14th to be  precise, one of Nigeria's first set of female architects, Dada Marquis clocked 70. To mark the event, the society matriarch hosted a classy party at her private residence in Victoria Island.

But after that celebration came the bigger one - two days later Feb 16th 2014,  well respected society matriarch, successful architect and grandmother Dada Marquis, at the ripe old age of 70, wedded her boo - grandfather and popular socialite, 79 year old Gabby Yardua.

Gabby Yardua, whose name always causes a stir on account of its similarity to the late General’s and late
President’s name, Yardua, is from Edo State and he is an unmistakable figure in Lagos social circles.
Now retired, Gabby had held a high managerial position in Guinness Nigeria Plc and at a time when beer allocation was one of the best business advantages in Lagos. Being good looking, charming, ebullient and, from the grapevine, well endowed, he was in demand by all Lagos girls. He was the toast of Lagos city. He belongs to many Lagos social clubs and was recently the Chairman of Abe Igi Club in Shitta, Surulere, Lagos.

Sources say his last boo before Dada was ex Lagos State Permanent Secretary, Mrs Deorike Durosimi-Etti, ex wife of popular Lagos lawyer of Okegbogbo descent, son of iconic late Lagos State Permanent Secretary, recently Vice Chairman of Eko Club, Surulere, Lagos, Mr Dapo Durosimi-Etti.

Before their relationship became official, Gabby had been noticed hanging around Dada Marquis but it wasn’t until Ebenezer Obey came out with the song of unison of the pair that credence was given to the grapevine blues. So at their wedding, as the couple took to the floor with their friends, Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey waxed lyrical with his timeless hits. The bride's close friends, notably, Sisi Abah Folawiyo, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, Ireti Asemota, Yewande Onileere, Yemisi Ransome-Kuti and many others were at the event to share in her joy.

Dada had been married to late Dr Basil Onibuche, a prominent Lagos politician, but the marriage later floundered after a few children. Wishing them a happy married life.
