No Indictment for White Cop that Killed Unarmed Black Man, Eric Garner

 

A Staten Island grand jury has voted not to bring criminal charges against the white New York City police officer who used a chokehold to restrain Mr. Garner, an unarmed black man who died after a confrontation.

Daniel Pantaleo, the white NYPD officer had placed 43-year-old father of six Eric Garner in the choke hold after Garner was detained for apparently selling illegal cigarettes. The incident was caught on video by a cell phone camera and published nationally, fueling claims of police brutality
and unfair treatment of black men by law enforcement.

The decision was reached on Wednesday after months of testimony including from the officer, Daniel Pantaleo, It came less than two weeks after a grand jury in Ferguson, Mo., declined to bring charges against
a white officer who fatally shot an unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown.
