Marilyn Ogar Of Department Of State Services, Others Sent On 'Compulsory Retirement'

A number of top directors at the Department of State Services (DSS) have been “compulsorily retired”, TheCable has been informed.

And top on the list is Marilyn Ogar, who was deputy director of public relations of the agency until two months ago. Ibrahim Katsina was also named as one of the retirees.

Most of the affected officers are believed to be close to Ita Ekpeyong, former director-general of the agency.

Ogar was transferred to Maiduguri, Borno state, in July, but the posting was put on hold following
insinuations that it was “punitive”.

A senior official of the DSS who confirmed the retirement to TheCable said it was “immediate and compulsory”.

As DSS spokesperson, Ogar was responsible for defending the activities of the agency in the media and she is believed to be paying for some of her pronouncements, notably in the face-off with the Bring Back Our Girls movement and the DSS raids on the Lagos office of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

She, alongside at least 44 other directors, already lost her recent promotion following Buhari’s nullification of the exercise.
