Arsene Wenger has once again come out in defence of his faltering Arsenal side.
The
Frenchman answered critics who claimed this is his worst ever team,
after the misery of the Gunners’ worst ever start to a Premier League
season was added to by their humilating exit from the Capital One Cup at
the hands of League Two Bradford City.
The 62-year-old insisted he actually won more trophies with a group
of players who were not as focused as his current crop at the Emirates.
Wenger
told reporters at his Friday press conference: “I have had groups who
had fantastic results who were less serious than these players, believe
me. We won trophies with players who were less focused than this team.
“Of
course these players are hurting. You think they don’t care and they go
home [after Bradford] and think they had a fantastic game? They do
care.
“We have not kicked on, that’s true. But we have rebuilt a team this year and we’ll see where we finish.”

SALTA, Argentina — The maiden, the boy, the girl of lightning: they were
three Inca children, entombed on a bleak and frigid mountaintop 500
years ago as a religious sacrifice…
Unearthed in 1999 from the
22,000-foot summit of Mount Llullaillaco, a volcano 300 miles west of
here near the Chilean border, their frozen bodies were among the best
preserved mummies ever found, with internal organs intact, blood still
present in the heart and lungs, and skin and facial features mostly
unscathed. No special effort had been made to preserve them. The cold
and the dry, thin air did all the work. They froze to death as they
slept, and 500 years later still looked like sleeping children, not
mummies.

Call it a publicity stunt or an action borne out of a genuine

A so-called "Jesus look-alike" has been kicked out of a

Officials
were unable to control the crowd as more and more of the fans at the

Unable to think of any other way to

escorted the so-called "Jesus look-alike" out.

MAKURDI — A 16-year-old boy, Terseer Iorparegh, was yesterday caught
stuck in a high tension cable while attempting to vandalize the PHCN
cable along Naka road in Makurdi.
Vanguard gathered from the Senior Special Assistant to Governor

A security source has just confirmed
to Saharareporters that the kidnapped mother of Nigeria's finance
minister, Professor Kamene Okonjo has been freed by security forces in
Delta state.
Professor Okonjo was kidnapped by
dare-devil kidnappers from her home on December 9 2012 while attending

ALL workers of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, totalling
about 50,000 and 4000 unregularised staff will be paid off as part of
the full privatisation of PHCN’s assets, the Federal Government and
organised labour have agreed.
The implication of this is that PHCN workers that will be absorbed by
new owners will have a new condition of service in line with agreement
with Labour. Vanguard gathered that government needs over N400 billion as
against less than N200 billion earlier earmarked by it to settle the
workers severance pay which terminated on June 1, 2012.
Similarly, the government has agreed that the total accrued gratuity
as at June 30, 2012 shall be paid to active PHCN workers in accordance
with the defined benefit scheme stipulated in PHCN 2010 conditions of
service. This is a major u-turn on the part of government which had

who lives in Rome, Italy, reportedly met her untimely death in the hands

Franca, 27, was killed in the woods of

after 24 hours on Sunday 10th of December, 2012 after her friends called
reported her missing at the police station when she failed to return
home from a night of work.
The police commands Carabinieri in Rome and Viterbo are working together to unmask the identities of Franca’s killers.
Okonjo family members have established communication with
kidnappers of Prof. Kamene Okonjo, the mother of Nigeria's Finance
Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
Eighty-three-year-old Kamene Okonjo was kidnapped Monday. It was also
learnt that the kidnappers had also reduced their ransom from $ 1
billion to $ 1.26 million.
A highly-placed security source told
reporters that secret negotiation had commenced with the kidnappers
because of the fragile health of the retired professor of Sociology and
pressure from higher quarters. It was also learnt that
the abductors are demanding the immediate resignation of Dr.
Okonjo-Iweala as Finance Minister. This demand gives reason to suspect
that the kidnap may be politically motivated.
